RANT#1 TO MEN: Quit Being Sissies.

Blame Bob Geiger for the name of this blog: "When Greg gets going it's Gregorian Chant... and when he really get's going, it's Gregorian Rant."

-----------------------------------------

We've got to quit playing games in the Church, particularly with men. We remain on the sidelines because we're not wired to be sissies... and church for many has become a sissy-convention. A lady's knitting guild. Accordingly, men are addicted to sports, career, devices, electronic entertainment and toys... poor substitutes for the hard-hitting ferocity for which our souls were fashioned. And the Kingdom is not advanced not a single step.

In this ultimate battle, we were made and equipped to be formidable, spiritual forces... like Maximus, William Wallace, Jason Bourne... with the heart of Samwise Gamgee, and the undying devotion of George Bailey. We're called to raise the bar and call it like it is... to bring it. Our world needs to be inspired by our lived-proclamation: If your witness is limited to your comfy, cozy Catholic group, if you're not bringing it in your marriage and family, you're in a Catholic hot tub! You're doing no damage to the Enemy! He boasts of his victory over you! If we're not about the mission of Jesus' total self-sacrifice, we're sissies.

You're made of the stuff that caused men to race into burning buildings for those they didn't even know! In Christ you're made of the stuff of heroes! Can you do this in your marriage for more than a fleeting moment after your feel-good event? In your family?

The world is tripping over the low bar set by the church. That's you and me. Tell me you're not tired of sitting on the sidelines, marginalized by warm, fuzzy, feel-good crap we've been offered as "faith" and "religion." Tell me you don't want to get in the game. Tell me you're not impatient and restless... with a burning desire to give your life... to make a difference... to make a permanent, life-changing impact on this world?!

The world is dying for men, for you and me, to look up above our navel-gazing, self-serving, lard-arse lives and see Him lifted up... our ultimate Hero... to see ourselves in Him, and how far we are-- that we fall down and repent... that we make a total-life re-declaration... that we might rise in the power of Jesus Christ and be more than Conquerors...." (Rom. 8:37)

LORD GOD, may my rant translate into hearts united in You, relentlessly committed to building the Kingdom here!
